We are proud to announce that our life settlement broker, American Life Settlements®, received its registered trademark on December 10, 2019. On July 10, 2000 it was confirmed as the first use of our service brand in commerce, making us among the oldest living settlement brokers. The United States Patent and Trademark Office has classified our company as "Financial Services, i.e. brokerage of insurance policies, settlement and loan services." As a result, we have been granted many exclusive and executive rights.
American Life Settlement: what we do.
American Life Settlements is a family-owned life settlement broker based in Carmel, Indiana. During our 20 years in business, we have helped people aged 32 to 93 with a duration of up to 23 years more or less than 5 to sell their life insurance policies. Life settlement brokers owe a fiduciary duty to policyholders. This requires an orchestration of competition between a large number of life and viatica settlements providers, including TV advertisers. Each provider uses doctors, actuaries and life insurance underwriters. Larger cases may require suppliers to purchase life expectancy reports. All these efforts require complete medical records of the active conditions that can affect longevity. This process ultimately reveals the true market value of any policy, which is not possible with a calculator or a quick quote over the phone without concrete facts. American Life Settlements®, with decades of activity and a national network of buyers, is unmatched in terms of industry expertise and dedicated customer support. The event of our registered brand validates our many years of hard work by offering great results for our customers.
Current business climate: continuous growth is expected.
Here are the facts: the population of potential candidates is increasing day by day. The number of people in America aged 65 and over is estimated to grow from 52 million (2018) to 82 million by 2040 and 98 million by 2060.
Average Life Settlement payments range from 4 to 8 times the redemption value in cash. Most people don't know that convertible terms policies are the easiest to sell for the best dollar. However, only $ 3.8 billion in life settlements were entered into in 2018 while approximately $ 200 billion in life insurance was concluded without quotes.
Why do elders leave a fortune on the table? The main reason is that there are not enough licensed professionals who advise clients on life settlements.
Difference of our company: American Life Settlement helps licensed professionals to make transactions.
Authorized professionals can add Life Settlement to their practice in a consistent and appropriate way. These include, but are not limited to, life insurance agents, securities representatives, investment advisors, financial and real estate planners, accountants of all varieties and attorneys. Those who cannot accept compensation for Life Settlement may have added it to customer payments. Being able to recommend life settlements is of particular importance for those who already have a fiduciary duty to their customers.
American Life Settlements does not sell products or financial advice. Customers are free to use or invest their money as they wish. Therefore, we do not compete with the consultants who join us.
Company history: making the switch from selling life insurance to life insurance brokerages.
Our 1987 life insurance agency began making deals in 1998. One of our first customers was the dear friend of the President and Founder of many years, a retired marine colonel from the Korean conflict who started a business after having withdrawn from his position as corporate vice president. His life transaction of our convertible forward policy saved his home from foreclosure and allowed him to rebuild his savings. Bringing money to the living was much more rewarding than handing over death requests. With the encouragement of him, his wife and other happy customers, Morris Heins founded American Life Settlements before launching his first website in 2000.
